2. Pro Session Golf in general

Pro Session lets you capture and analyse your swing. It also offers access to golf- specific content and services. The following sections help you to get the most out of it.

  • Learn to use golf-tailored viewfinder to capture the players at correct angles and distances, instantly in perfect pose.
  • Find out how to utilise the playback functionality: frame-by-frame skipping, rewind and fast forward, selecting and marking swings from longer videos.
  • Compare your swing against a reference swing.
  • Take advantage of drawing tools to analyse and improve your swing.
Tip: When using Pro Session, follow the etiquette and rules of golf.

3. Main menu

Use Camera item to capture and analyse your swing. Press the right or left arrow on the scroll key to swap between video or still mode and different view angles.

Use Album to browse, view, and analyse stored swing files.

Use Online to access golf-specific online content.

Use Quick Guide to find hints and tips on using the application to improve your game.

Tip: Album contains reference swings which you may find useful when familiarising yourself with Pro Session.

4. Navigation

Press the up and down arrows on the scroll key to browse menu items. Press the scroll key to select the desired item. The item can also be selected via Options. Select ‘Exit’ to quit Pro Session.

Tip: To delete a user-created file or folder in the album, scroll to it and press .

5. Camera

Pro Session enables easy capturing of a swing from two essential angles:
1.The side angle, which helps you to capture and analyse the swing from down the target line perspective.
2.The front, which is a face-on view.

To activate recording or capture, press the scroll key. When you stop recording or take a photo, the file is automatically saved in the application’s photo album. To pause recording, press the scroll key. To continue, press the scroll key again. To zoom, use the up and down arrows on the scroll key.

Tip: When you are in direct sunlight, adjust the display brightness to increase the contrast (tools / settings / phone / display settings / brightness).

Camera: shooting

To record a video or capture a still:

The viewfinder and silhouette show you the image to be captured. Make sure that the target person matches the size of the silhouette to enable a good quality comparison at a later stage. To achieve this you may move closer to or further from the captured object.

Note that you may also zoom in or out by pressing the up and down arrows on the scroll key.

Tip: Place the camera on your chest to shoot in the correct vertical direction. Hold it steady while recording.

Camera modes

It is easy to change the camera mode or angle on the fly. Press the right or left arrow on the scroll key to swap between the video recorder or still image and different camera angles.
You may also open the options menu to use these features.

Tip: Photo offers better image quality than video, if you are interested in a certain point or position in your swing.

Camera: flip

Use option ‘Flip’ to rotate the viewfinder silhouette horizontally. By doing this you can capture left-handed players, so that their swings are automatically stored and opened as “left-handed”.

Tip: You can also set the handedness when files are listed in album. To do so, open the options menu and select ‘Swing settings’.

6. Player

Video playback enables quick and easy analysis of the captured performance. You may play the video, view it frame by frame, compare it against other performances, and use drawing tools to illustrate key points.

Use full screen to pick up details of your swing.

Tip: When you are in direct sunlight, adjust the display brightness to increase the contrast (phone settings > display settings > brightness).

Player: controls

You only need one finger to control the video playback and image viewer.

To play the video, press the scroll key.

To pause the video, press the scroll key. To continue playback, press the scroll key again.

The left and right arrows on the scroll rewind and forward the clip. When paused, you can view the clip frame by frame.

The same control buttons are available on the full screen view.

Tip: Press * key to enter the full screen view.

Player: drawing tool

Use the drawing tool to analyse a swing point by point or to emphasise a certain position. Move the cursor to select the starting position. Press the scroll key to confirm the staring point; the next presses finish the drawing.
Line to draw guides.
Circle to map key points, e.g. the player’s head during a swing.
Rectangle to outline areas of interest.
Sway to follow lateral body movement during the swing.
Plane to analyse your swing plane.

Tip: You can undo the latest drawing or remove all the drawn shapes.

Player: full screen

Select the full screen view to get a closer look at details. When in player, open the options menu and select ‘Full screen’ – or press * button to access a short cut.

Press either of the soft keys to return to normal mode.

Tip: You can also toggle between the normal and full screen view by pressing * key.

Player: set swing marks

Swing marks function as index marks which indicate the starting and ending point.
1. Use the left and right arrows on the scroll to rewind and forward the clip to mark the desired starting point, for example the beginning of your swing.
2. When you have found the correct position, press OK or the scroll key to set the starting point. It is indicated using the green index mark. The ending point is automatically marked in red.
Now you can analyse only the essential parts of your swing without having to wind the whole clip.

Note that the video is not cut or edited by other means. You can later remove or change set swing marks.

Tip: Scroll the clip outside swing marks to play it back in full.

7. Comparison

Comparison enables you to compare your swing against a preferred model swing, which may be, for example, your best shot assisted by teaching pro.

You can compare any of your swings against a preset reference, which can be changed at any time in comparison state. When playing a clip, select ‘Compare’ from options to enter the comparison mode.

Tip: You may change your default reference when files are listed in album. To do so, open options and select ‘Swing settings’.

Comparison: synchronise

It is quite common that compared swings are not synchronised when you start playing them. In order to synchronise the analysed and reference swing, select ‘Synchronise’ from the options menu in comparison state.

The synchronised swing is shown within a red frame. The frame can be moved to the other screen by pressing the up and down arrows on the scroll key, allowing you to adjust both videos. The left and right arrows on the scroll rewind and forward the clip to the desired position.

Tip: Press the scroll key when you have synchronised the swings to lock them and continue comparing.

Comparison: flip

Flipping enables you to mirror the clip or photo, for example to make an analysed or reference swing better suited to a left- handed player. When in player, open options and select ‘Flip’.

Tip: Flip can also be used in the comparison mode.

8. Album

The album contains swing files which you have taken or downloaded. There are also some preinstalled items that you may find useful. Note: Preinstalled content may vary. To browse the contents of a folder, scroll to the folder and press the scroll key. Folders can be created and deleted, such as individual files. For example, it might be useful to create a folder per training session or season, or for each person whose swings you analyse and follow.

Tip:To delete user-created files or folders in album, scroll to it and press .

9. Send

Send your swings to other compatible devices. Note that when using e-mail or MMS, the availability of this service depends on the services provided by your operator. When you receive swing files, they are stored in the messaging inbox, from where you can move them to Pro Session. When sending video via MMS, only the section inside the swing marks is sent. This is due to the limited size of the MMS message. Note that the original video remains intact.

Tip: Check your phone’s e-mail, MMS, or Bluetooth settings if you encounter problems while sending or receiving.

10. Online

Online gives you access to golf-specific content. When selecting the item, the phone web browser is opened and the predefined page is opened. You may return to the application by exiting the browser.

Tip: Check your phone’s browser settings if you encounter access problems.

11. Quick Guide

Quick Guide is an electric guide that helps you to find basic information on the key features.

Tip: When you are using certain Pro Session feature, context sensitive help gives you more detailed information (options / help).
